A luxurious permanent camp, decorated with colourful African furnishings and ornaments.
SETTING
Located in the scenic Karisia Hills of the Laikipia Plateau, Tumaren Camp is situated on the eastern border of a vast open plain, with views over a series of granite ‘kopjes’ (rocky outcrops) that characterise the landscape of eastern Laikipia. The camp is also in a prime location for wildlife viewing, and you are likely to see giraffes and other grazers from the camp.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES
Tumaren Camp has just four comfortable and spacious tents overlooking the open grassland, providing a relaxed and intimate atmosphere. Each tent has a double bed and ensuite bathroom, and is decorated in a distinctive African style. Two tents have both a double and single bed, and the family tent has a double and two single beds with a divider set up between the rooms. All tents and bathrooms are lit using solar power, and the communal mess tent also has a charging station available.
DINING
Cuisine at camp features home-cooked dishes, all freshly prepared at camp and enjoyed ‘al fresco’ in the shade of a tree or under the starlit skies.
ACTIVITIES
Tumaren Camp is the perfect base for walking safaris in the Karisia Hills, whether you are using the camp as your permanent base or as a starting point for mobile camping treks into the wilderness. These walking safaris use camels to transport tents and luggage to each campsite, providing a more peaceful and authentic experience. Guests at Tumaren Camp also benefit from the riding camels, land cruisers, mountain bikes and expert Samburu guides at camp and are able to choose how they want to explore.
