Offcanvas Section

You can publish whatever you want in the Offcanvas Section. It can be any module or particle.

By default, the available module positions are offcanvas-a and offcanvas-b but you can add as many module positions as you want from the Layout Manager.

You can also add the hidden-phone module class suffix to your modules so they do not appear in the Offcanvas Section when the site is loaded on a mobile device.

Overlooking the majestic Mount Kenya, Lewa House is a family-run accommodation and is perfect for families looking for a safe environment to view the extensive wildlife of Kenya. With the main house built thirty years ago from locally sourced materials, new cottages have been built with the same eco-friendly motive in mind.

Lodge Details

Style

Natural stone and thatch cottages with a homely and inviting feel.

Setting

Located within the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, Lewa House overlooks both the conservancy and the majestic Mount Kenya.

Accommodation & Facilities

The cottages are situated around the grounds, each with unique views of Kenya’s Northern Fronteir. If you’re travelling with a family and want to stay together, the thatched family cottages consist of a double and twin room, each with an en-suite bathroom. Each en-suite bathrooms with indoor showers and a free laundry service. Outside every family cottage is a large private veranda where you and your family can enjoy early morning treats before heading out on your safaris.

The latest addition to the Lewa House are the Earth Pods – four simple, elegant rooms that are designed to disappear into the landscape, collect and store rainwater and maintain an even temperature. Each pod has its own en-suite bathroom with an indoor shower and three of the rooms have an outdoor bath. A private veranda is attached to each pod and local, organic handmade toiletries are available in each bathroom.

DINING

The spacious dining room within the Lewa House contains a large table for guests to share stories and enjoy meals whilst a roaring log fire keeps the mountain chill away. The menu is European with inspiration from Kenyan, Indian and Asian cuisine. Fresh, local and seasonal ingredients are incorporated. Please note that menus change each season.

Activities

Lewa House offers game drives led by skilled guides to get you amongst the wildlife in their natural habitat. The ‘big five’ have been viewed numerous times and Lewa House provide fleece blankets to keep you warm whilst seeing them on chilly mornings.

For an extra cost, a half hour flight over the inaccessible cliffs and valleys of Lewa in a yellow bi-plane is available and is guaranteed to give you that ‘Out of Africa’ experience. As well as exploring by plane, a helicopter trip is also an option where you can be dropped near a mountain tarn for a morning of fishing or tree hop your way over semi-arid plains and picnic on an inselberg with 1000ft cliffs.

Other activities available at Lewa House are horse and camel riding, walking safaris and swimming in the on-site pool.

Child Policy

Lewa House is a family-run accommodation and children of all ages are therefore welcome. Family cottages are available.
